Solfège is one of these indispensable tools that contributes to the development of musical hearing. With that a basis can be formed for the general musical understanding. Through my role as a student assistant of various theory subjects (including solfège) at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, I have had the opportunity to teach students with many different ages and backgrounds. My approach: • The lessons are always in line with the environment and the theoretical knowledge that the student already has. • Creative thinking is used in the lessons. This is done, for example, by improvising melodies or coming up with a second voice based on feeling. • I also encourage critical thinking and listening. I do this by not giving too much pre-chewed information, but by an experiential approach. • In practice I use different solfège methods (tonic sol-fa, or using numbers in a scale). My experience has shown that not every system is ideal for everyone. That is why I am flexible in my approach and I will always coordinate this on my students.

Private Piano Lessons: Classical and Jazz, Pop Performance/Theory
The lessons will delve into both the technical and musical aspects of piano playing, theory, reading music, harmony, ear training, technique, pedagogy and more. My aim is to equip students to understand different music styles, build confidence, discover their unique voice and continue their musical journey independently. As Thelonious Monk said, the piano ain’t got no wrong notes. I'm passionate about traversing genres since I have studied both jazz and classical to a high level, making this class perfect for creative pianists and composers who want to go beyond reading music off a piece of paper. Trinity/ABRSM curriculum upto Grade 8, can also be optionally included. Teaching effective practice methods is a priority, ensuring students progress confidently and without leaning on me. Please note, I only teach in person to maintain high standards of guidance in technique. This is not possible via video conferencing. Since everyone asks: yes, I did study at Berklee College of Music as an undergraduate for some time, and I do help students out with their audition preparation for various music colleges! Currently, my students are between 14 and 44 years old— I believe that it’s never too late or too early to begin your musical journey. I look forward to your requests and have only one vacant spot remaining in my roster for Spring/Summer 2024. Book now!

Play only what you like! - Piano lessons for all levels and all styles
Music is Play! and everyone is it's own game. Read, understand and make only the music you like. I think if it isn't fun, it can't be music:) I studied a classical piano bachelor, and later a jazz master and a live electronics master. In the meantime, I have been teaching music. It's longer than 9 years now! Most of my students learn piano. With the starter ones, I use my own system to equally help them grow all the needed skills: body consciousness (to avoid lesions or bad habits), music theory (including writing and reading) and improvisation. Usually most songs are made of melody, chords and rhythm. From there, I can help you understand how a song works, how is it written, how does it translate to the piano... and voilá! You'll know the song by heart, and will be able to play it a bit different every time, because you won't be following a set of pre-imposed instructions. You will understand how a small system (a song) works. This way of learning can be applied to any song, from any century or style. Understanding is key! Play Chopin, write rock songs, play Monk, Bill Evans, the Beatles, make a lo-fi beat, play Beethoven, play the Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Star Wars, play video game music, play salsa! bachata and make people dance, laugh or cry. Music is very powerful! PD: I have also experience imparting electronic music lessons in Ableton Live and Max MSP, which is now a very important part of my professional practice. In case you are interested, it is also possible to mix the two worlds and create a any kind of path between piano, synths, beats and home studio techniques. Ask me anything, I'll tell you how I could help!

Drum lessons. Learn to play and work in a musical ensemble.
Drum teacher, College Degree on Music Arts. More than 20 years of experience giving private drum lessons and music ensemble. Simon Osuna
Lessen contrabas en Basgitaar. Jazz, funk, blues, rock, pop
Private lessons from a very experienced bassist with over 10 years of experience performing internationally and more than 5 years as a teacher. The lessons are for all levels, it is not necessary to have previous experience. In the lessons, we'll learn the instrument and musical theory but the main focus is to play and have fun doing so. In my experience, that's the key to success. I'm mainly focused on Jazz music but I've performed several different styles of music and the lessons can be tailored to your musical interests. I've learned to play this instrument with the best teachers in Europe but I also studied in NYC with Jazz legends such as Buster Williams, Reggie Workman and David Wong.

Piano (any style!), Improvisation and Music Theory lessons
Hey there! If you have been thinking for a while about learning to play, improvise and read music scores on the piano, then this is the sign to start! My name is Enrique and I come from Andalucía, Spain. I am a Classical Piano student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam and I would be pleased to be your teacher. It will be great to teach you how to play your favourite music on the piano, but also about its language, reading and writing, that is, the music theory, or even how to start improvising your own music. All of this is actually interconnected and it is interesting to combine them in teaching. I adapt to any age, level or taste (you may prefer classical, jazz, pop... everything is welcome!). Lessons can be taught in English or Spanish. Thanks for your attention! Hope to help you soon ;)

Jorge
Jazz, Classical, Pop and Theory Lesson for Beginners, Intermediate and Advance
Hi, I'm Jorge Fernández, a pianist with studies in Jazz and Classical music. During my courses we will concentrate on ensuring that through creativity, the development of a challenging repertoire and musical awareness, the student acquires the greatest number of tools possible in order to express themselves freely in this fascinating language such as music. For example: for beginners of child age I propose the Bastien method complemented with composition and improvisation exercises. In the case of more adult students, always try to adapt to motivating repertoires for them and complement that learning with analysis exercises and theory of those pieces or songs that are being studied. I recommend classes of one hour or more in order to carry out a course that is as complete as possible, not only based on interpretation but also on the understanding of musical language with theory exercises and ear training education.

Music lessons: Double bass, bass guitar. Jazz, classical and world-music. Learn how to study
Hey there! In my lessons, what you want is the most important. That's why we create together a plan of study with ideas, goals and subjects to reach out our dream to make music (that's also my dream) Nevertheless, I can give you an overview of the content: I divide the music theory in two: Technical and Musical. Technical Theory regarding all the concepts and information related to music, and Musical Theory regarding the ideas and concepts to help us understand and improve the performance of music. Besides that, we look to harmony in a functional, rhythmical and organic way. We learn and approach music from the first lesson, looking at it from different angles (understanding rhythm and essence of a song for example). All this plus a nice diet of assignments and exercises: D Furthermore, we put especial attention to enjoying music. That means playing but also listening music! For me, that's one of the best ways to learn :) And of course, we learn as well by making mistakes, so at the end it's all about fun and trying things out;) Remember: "True success isn't just getting what you want in life - it's liking what you get";) César

- PERSONALISATIE Lesgeven is niet “one size fits all”. Daarom pas ik mijn lessen aan voor elk type student. Duur, methodologie, prijs en planning worden bepaald op basis van de behoefte van de student.
